HISTORY & VISION
It all began in 1981 when Cindy Gershen opened the Sunrise Bakery and Café. People lined up out the door to pick up her freshly baked breads and pastries. Business was so strong, in fact, that she quickly outgrew that location and opened Sunrise Bistro a block way, continuing the homemade tradition but expanding it into lovingly-made breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees.
What do we mean when we say “healthy” fare? Combining fresh, locally grown and sustainable ingredients into recipes that avoid transfats and high fructose corn syrup, as well as the typical overuse of salt and sugar. Avoiding these ingredients ultimately enhances the flavor and texture of all the good food at Sunrise.
Each day at 3 AM, delicious breads, pastries and desserts are baked on the premises. From scratch, salad dressings, berry compote and barbeque sauces, to name a few, are also prepared. It’s all about giving Sunrise patrons the same carefully crafted food that Cindy serves in her home to her own family and friends. She is always attuned to creating more mouthwatering food that’s good for you. It’s food that fuels the body, in the best ways possible.
